EXPERIENCE TRADITION & EXCELLENCE
Symphonic Band – This advanced class/ensemble is active throughout the full course of the year and earns consistent Distinguished Ratings at KMEA District and Statewide festivals/competitions.
Freshman Band – This class/ensemble, combined with the Symphonic Band, consistently earns Distinguished Ratings at KMEA district & state festivals and is primarily for 9th grade and first year band students. Note: If a student desires to audition for the Symphonic Band, those auditions will be conducted during our Band Camp in August.
Charger Marching Band – All band members enjoy participation in this exciting “College Style” group with minimal rehearsals and performances.
Jtown Jazz Ensemble – Experience the joy of performing Jazz, Rock, Funk, Latin styles & learn to improv.
Winter Percussion Ensemble – "Rock Out" on percussion instruments in this pulse-pounding, crowd-pleasing group.
KMEA All-State Bands – Perform with the best of the best players in the state of
University of Louisville Honor Band – Several of our JHS students are accepted each year to participate in one of the finest honor bands in the Louisville area.
Charger Basketball Pep Band – Symphonic band members enjoy participation in this group by supporting the Girl's and Boy's teams at some regular season home games and post-season tournament games.
Symphony Orchestra – This ensemble is available to advanced wind & percussion players.
Class Piano – The piano class is designed for both beginning and advanced piano students.
KMEA Solos & Ensembles – Our students are highly encouraged to participate in the annual KMEA Solo & Ensemble Festival each year.
All-Star Marching Band –
U.S. Army All-American Marching Band – Join the nation’s top high school musicians on an all-expenses-paid trip to San Antonio, TX to march in the halftime performance of the All-American Bowl at the Alamodome.

Can I play sports or do other activities and be in the band too?
YES! Members of our band also enjoy participation in JROTC, Football, Basketball, Dance Team, Softball,
Baseball, Soccer, Track, Cross Country, Drama, Choir, Orchestra, Beta Club, NHS, and so much more.
Will I be able to take band for all four years?
YES! Please contact our guidance office at 485-8275 to sign up for one of our great band courses.
Can I obtain a hardship transfer to be in the Jeffersontown Band?
